Construction Specialties (CS), a manufacturer of architectural building products, has released its inaugural Pursuit of Better — Impact Report 2025. The report is one component of CS’s ongoing sustainability and transparency efforts, which include benchmarks and initiatives that span the global company.

Construction Specialties opened its doors in 1948 with the ethos, “Don’t Create Waste.” More than 75 years later, CS still pursues a superior standard of social and environmental responsibility across its company, products, and the community. Intended to publish biennially, the Pursuit of Better — Impact Report highlights key milestones, supports conversations with customers and specifiers, communicates CS’s “Our Pursuit of Better” strategy, and demonstrates how products align with evolving sustainability goals.

Key Milestones Advancing CS’s Sustainability Efforts

  • Achieving an LCA Optimization Assessment for Acrovyn Sheet An LCA-optimized assessment is a verified document proving that a manufacturer has successfully reduced the environmental footprint of their product compared to a previous baseline. In this instance, CS showed active improvement by reducing the embodied carbon of Acrovyn Sheet by 53 percent through the incorporation of post-consumer recycled content. Projects that use the product now have the potential to earn even more LEED points for their green building projects.
  • Renewing Cradle-to-Cradle Certifications This rigorous, third-party multi-attribute certification evaluates products and operations across five interconnected impact areas: material health, product circularity, clean air & climate protection, water/soil stewardship, and social fairness. Each certification lasts three years. To successfully renew, a manufacturer must demonstrate measurable optimization or progress in at least one category while also undergoing third-party reverification of supply chains and formulations, ensuring the standards of the original guidelines haven’t lapsed. CS has now renewed all previous Full Scope certifications under V5.
  • Conducting Lifecycle Analysis for Acrovyn Doors Acrovyn Doors are comprised of a sturdy inner core that is clad in Acrovyn surface protection. This analysis attests to the durability of Acrovyn Doors, which translates to a long product life cycle, meaning less waste and maintenance. Furthermore, this product carries a warranty that guarantees a replacement at no cost to the original owner if an Acrovyn edge should ever become damaged. Acrovyn Doors also carry an EPD and C2C Certificate.
  • Expanding Red List Free Declare Labels to Include All Finishes Described as “nutrition label” for building products, Declare is an industry-recognized label that allows companies to disclose product ingredients, providing greater transparency into product composition. CS recently republished its Red List Free Declare Label to include woodgrains, Strata, and Brushed Metal, thus earning Declare labels for the entire range of Acrovyn Wall Coverings finishes.

“Pursuit of Better reflects our commitment to improving the performance and durability of buildings around the world,” says Nick Longman, CEO of Construction Specialties. “It represents a deliberate step toward aligning our products and operations with leading industry frameworks. These principles reinforce our long-standing belief that creating better buildings begins with designing better products — products that safeguard people, preserve resources, and endure over time.”
